Example (Elliot John Gleave) started of as 12 year old getting involved in rap battles at friends parties and making money on the side while at University he got involved in opening his garage up for Mcing battles .
Example :Early Career (2004-2008)
When Example went to University he wanted to get involved within the Film industry as a film director .
During his period in University he met Joseph Gardner , AKA Rusher and a producer who he would later go on to work with . The university process at a young age was a massive benefit to who Example is within the industry today as he kept the contact he created .
After moving back to London after University Example decided to pursue a future path in editing . But after releasing three singles through his own Label 'All the Chants' Example received a lot of attention from Pete Tong , Zane Lowe and other personalties at Radio 1 . Example also caught the attention of people at four major record labels 'Mike Skinner' ( The Streets)
After receiving a lot of attention through the music labels , Example signed a deal in April 2008 with the beats . Example put out a response to compete with Lilly Allen No 1 hit 'Smile' . Example's first proper release on the beats was 'What we made' released in November 2006
Example then had a major second hit called 'You Can't Rap' which was released in March 2007 followed by a new release of the single 'I Don't want to' .
In February 2008 Example attempted to start his own stand up comedy as part of the BBC2's The Culture Show where he was mentored by English comic Richard Herring . As part of the show example spent six weeks writing and praticing his own stand up routines . His first showing was in front of a paying audience in Covent Garden which was relatively successful . This very much boosted Example's reputation within the music industry and within the comedy industry
Main Breakthrough (2009-2011)
Example's main Breakthrough was in September 2009 when he released a leading single called 'Watch The Sun Come Up' as the lead single from his second album 'Wont go Quietly' . On the debut of the single it came at number 20 in the UK Singles chart which eventually rose to number 19 the following week of being released
On January 18th 2010 Example released another single called 'Wont go Quietly' which got a massive reception from the UK music charts and came in at number 6 which marked a landmark for Example as it was his first single that made the top 10
There was an announcement then made in April 2010 there would be a second album which would include a single called 'Kick Starts' . It received its radio debut on 13th of April on BBC Radio 1 . The single was released on the 20th June and it came in a at a staggering 3rd place within the UK Charts making it Examples highest chart number .
On the 12th September Example released another single called 'Last One Standing' which is my song choice I have chosen to complete for my A2 Media Project . 'Last One Standing' reached a peak of number 27 within the UK Charts .
